I seen this frame on internet for sale and i want it but i dot think hes telling the true if the motor will fit. here are some pictures of it and it seems the oil tank in right by the motor and Would the yz426 still fit. so i can know if i should get it.

Looks like that oil tank is just sitting there. I doubt that's where it actually mounts...

Do you guys think i should try to get it?

Maybe. Just realize what you're getting yourself into. Turning that picture into a running quad is going to take a lot of work, time, and money.

Do you already have a donor quad for all the chassis/electrical bits? And if so, why not just use that frame for a hybrid?

No thats just what i wanted to do is build it from the ground up thats why i needed some experienced people to tell me if it looks good.

that pretty much looks like a stock 400ex frame with a oil tank sitting there

if i remember correctly someone was selling a hybrid and it had a frame with that hole in it in the top right. someone said it was a converted 400ex frame and thats what it was. so maybe its a converted 400ex frame? im not sure but its going to be alot of work to build your own hybrid from scratch. good luck with it and keep us posted on your build!

edit** ...i found the link to the for sale ad...this is a beautiful quad and is one of my favorites!

http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=237336

it shows the frame and that it is a 400ex frame. maybe you can compare the two and see if they look the same? i dont have much expierience with hybrids but hopefully this will help you out.

so you all are saying the motor will fit right. thats what he says in the scription.

im not saying the motor will fit...im just saying that it looks to be the same kind of frame as the link i put up. you can ask questions so i suggest you ask him exactly what the frame is and if its ready to drop that motor in it. its going to take some modification if its a stock 400ex frame. IMO i dont think you should be trying to build a ground up hybrid if you dont know what the frame you need looks like...because you still have to do all the modifications to it and that takes alot more know-how than figuring out what frame you need. but if you have the skills go for it. but it might be cheaper to save up and buy a used one already complete. but i say ask the seller exactly what it is and if he has the title for it. keep us posted on how the build goes. not trying to sound mean in any way...im just saying to ask the seller because he should know exactly what it is.

He said he had the motor mounted in the frame and lost interest and parted it out.

The motor mounts, radiator mounts and oil tank look just like the ones ss440ex sells.Check with him because it looks like his kit.I have all of it and yes is does work(very good kit) and yes that is where his oil tanks mount.I would definetly check with him first though.

well if he said he did then he probley just welded some bolts on the frame where he cut it then he put screws and thats a good idea because that sucks all the years of the 400ex they never think that they should make the bumper not welded to the frame then we can get aftermarket bumpers then instead of of modding it to fit

That's cool that someone's making pre-fabed hybrid conversion parts.

will a 426 fit into an ex frame like actually get in there or do u have to move the frame rails?

ss440ex
06-27-2006, 09:13 AM
The frame rails you will not alter.
Just add a spacer and bushing in rear of the engine.
Tighten the swing arm bolt.
Bolt on the front billet horns(positions the engine)
Weld in the upper and lower engine mounts.
