is the carb for a 400 or a 440 motor??

CHEVYZ
08-01-2006, 10:50 AM
Its a 440 edition carb, but it should work on both. The only difference is the 440 carb is a 38mm round carb, whereas the 400 carb is an oval carb.. I don't remember the dimensions, but as far as specs goes the 440 carb should work even better. The 440 edition carb also comes with anodizing features not seen on the regular carb. All in all it is really just a better carb from what I understand, and both should and will work well.

why did you change carbs??

I bought the carb a while back for use on my 440. The carb has a tendency to sometimes stick at a high idle after very smooth on off throttle. The carb really needs to either be taken apart and cleaned or rebuilt. Either way should work well. It isn't a problem, but to be honest I just never had the time to care for it. Works well and performs great otherwise. For a $400 dollar carb in like new condition other thn that I think its a pretty good deal overall.... I just switched carbs as I had an 05 450r carb lying around while my 05 was down and now that I am back running again have no need to care for it.

I will give you 150 shipped paypal now. Thanks for being honest. just don't want to buy a problem, come across plenty of them on my own but a rebuild shouldn't be that bad. Does it have the throttle cable with it??

If you give me $175 its a deal. Comes with a throttle cable, manuals, needles for tuning, everything.

Yeah I hear you. I set mine up for all around and I am still dumping money into it trying to get it where I want it.... and that isn't even purpose built. I stopped shopping around on alot of other places and when I need stuff I usually come here first. Its pretty easy to go broke over a few parts when you aren't being careful. I try to be pretty honest when I sell things. I have been there before and it is pretty sad when you cannot get a bike going because of other people not being honest about what they sell.:ermm:

O yea last week looks great my girlfriend thought it was brand new!! are all the adjustments set correctly on it?? and you said you were having some sort of problem with it?? What was it. Thanks a lot James.

CHEVYZ
08-08-2006, 01:17 PM
Cool. All the adjustments were set correctly for me, you will prbably have to do some minor adjustments, but you will probably not even have to change a needle. Just grind the inside of your throttle box (?) for your thumb thottle (It is on your handle bars... for the thumb throttle) out a little or you won't reach full throttle. I had to learn that after I tried tuning and could get to full throttle on it. Umm, other than that you should be set. Try it out and see... like I said, it will occasionally stick if you are smooth on the throttle, but depending how you ride and all, it might not matter anyway. If you have any probalems let me know and I will try to help you to the best of my ability. The only thing I could see happening is that you may have to clean the insides up, though.:macho

Oh, if you need info on the grinding of the throttle box, go to edelbrocks site. Don't know why they make them like that.:ermm:

ok thanks I was wondering how I should grind it thanks for the heads up.
