you should of kept that one because that was a good rv box because I have it right now and I have a k&n, white bro e2 slipon,wb revbox jetted 155 main jet and I can beat a stock 400ex by about 5 quads away but I think they still make them on some sites but I dont no any but I think It makes a diffrence to my 400ex by far and everybody says its no diffrence in power hell yea it does lol or maybe I just broke it in real good

The White box is just a rebadged XR250 box (as is the big gun, and Sparks <-(I think)).

get the alba cdi

i'm using it now, its really nice, no starting problems or anything, real quality cdi, not an xr knockoff like the white-brothers

its somewhat pricey, i think 60-70 bucks

go to albaaction.com if you wanna get one

Why can't companies simply state that their CDI raises the rev limiter by X rpm and advances the igintion curve by X degrees? That would make figuring out which box is most appropriate soooo much easier.

Instead, we're left playing a guessing game about how any particular box is going to perform. :ermm:

The Dynatek Dyna FS is one of the most feature packed CDIs available. It has programmable rev limits and ignition curves. It's also by far the most expensive.

[sidenote: I started writing a "How To" on picking a 400EX CDI. I got halfway through and nixed the idea because I wasn't satisfied with the information I could fine about each unit. Oh well.]

HOP UP TRICK!

Many aftermarket CDI boxes on the market today are actually stock Honda XR250R boxes! The unmodified XR250 box will give you about 800 more rpm on top and a faster ignition curve. You can purchase this directly from your local Honda dealer and save money.

Order: CDI for Honda XR 250 1992-2004

Part #30410-KCE-671 Want the best price? Order from Service Honda!

i had the sparks box and it is junk. it will not start in winter like it should. i have ran both gt thunder rev boxes. both are great! the more aggresive curve box does idle a little different from being a sharper curve. however, the bike will still start in winter, it is just a hair harder than stock. the less aggressive curve box from gt thunder starts and idles like stock. the dyna box for the 400ex tends to go out a lot. i think they revised the box and it still goes out. i have not talked to one person who has had that box on a 400ex and has not had it fail. i know dyna makes good products. they claim it is due to the weird electrical system the 400ex has. i run a dyna on my 450 and it has been fantastic. i know the MSD ignition may be the most expensive on the 400. i have read good reports but very few people have that setup. good luck

idk sparks makes good products nothing has gone wrong with mine but i live in the south where its warmer in the winter so i dont have any problems with mine starting but clark you might since your in nh it really doesnt matter what you go with unless you race your not going to be able to tell a huge difference in different cdi unless you get a faulty one
