i was about to buy a frame that has the 426 conversion in it but i was wondering can a yz400f and yz450f engine in it. Or will it just fit the yz426f engine.

And how much horsepower does this motor produce stock does anybody have a clue.

The YZ426F and the YZ400F have the same motor mounts but i'm not sure about the YZ450F. The YZ400F and the YZ426F are pretty much the same engine besides the bore the piston pin and the connecting rod and diffrent crank bearings.

But which would be best for trails.

the 426 or 450 because they have more torque than the 400. the 426 is plenty motor for trails. i would leave it as is.

I think any of the YZF engines will work good for trail riding.

ya, but the 450 motor hits so hard(only the ones before '06 do this) that is almost too much for anybody but a pro racer to handle in the woods.
