i watched huevos 6 a lil while ago and IMO it was cool to see all pros riding tricked out 250r's and hybrids. Dana creech had the nicest hybrid. And to see some one (jones) win nationals on a 250r in front of all the 4 strokes was great.

Thats a good vid, it seems fuuny to see all the hybrids and 400ex's like u said. Now the videos r all yfz 450's and 450r's it kinda sucks

yeah it kinda sucks to see just the 450's in everything now. but hey if theyre good quads why not use them, right? even the z400's glory seemed shortlived in all the quad movies. its still around but isnt a main character anymore. i liked huevos 6 for that same reason of seeing some older stuff mixed in with the newer stuff.

3-4 are the best.

banshees, 250rs, 400ex's :D

but i mean in 6. no1 had the same bike. i mean there were alot of 250r's but everyone was completly diffrent. frames etc. and we all know there are never alike hybrids unless someone purposly builds em like that. idk it seemed like the sport was more intresting back then. everything now is a 450:o

06-23-2006, 03:55 PM
yup, i hate watching motocross now cuz its all 450...i know i prolly wont hear it again but i love hearing a group of banshees, 250Rs....250 and especially a group of 125 dirt bikes just screaming and clicking through the gears...

we used to have a couple blasters and i had my banshee, and my brother and his frineds had 125s and 250s and we all would scream through our 100 acres out back, it was great!

I think this is in 6...but John Natalie's 400ex/crf450 hybrid pwned.

06-23-2006, 06:44 PM
I don't know about you guys, but Id rather hear the nice sound of a 450 four stroke instead of a pinging two stroke. Its nice to hear a two stoke once in a while but I just get so annoyed by them so quickly. Thats just me tho.

And Heuvos 6 old school? haha I just watched Quatros Locos last night. I was probably like 4 years old when that came out. Thats truly old school with Doug Gust, Joy Byrd and Tim Farr all decked out in their neon yellow gear lol

Yep thats six.

Also if anyone else noticed in the part with Dunks and Natalie, Dunks quad changes throughout the section. Someparts its a 250r engine and other parts its a hybrid. Dont know if anyone else picked that up.

And the jump they do in that part is Insane.

Yeh, I love 2-strokes, that's why I have a 250r.

I love the sound of them too.

And it does kill me to see all 450's on tv, and the new huevos's and in all the magazines, and even at my track, the last FT race they had was all 4 strokes except for 1 lt250. There is another race there tonite and I'm goin hopefully there will be some 2-strokers there.

I still read the quad magazines my dad bought in the late 80's and 90's, it was all about the 250r, it was sweet. Thats all the pros ran was 250r's, lt250's, and tecate-4's. Thats when it was SWEET!

I'd rather hear a pack of 2-strokes than 4 strokes any day!

4 strokes are ok, but id still much rather hear the sound of a 2 stroke anyday, just like at the dealer today a guy started a 4 stroke and pulled it inside and that was that, but when he fired up the banshee with FMFs, that gets alot more people lookin...why do you think all freestyle MX is done on 2 strokes?? Almost everyone loves the sound of it and it gets ur blood pumping...2 strokes kick ***!

ha no thats not the reason even tho im a 2 stroke fan. the bikes use 2 strokes cuz there lighter

Yea I always thought the FMX guys used two strokes because they sound better?:huh

If it wasn't for the four stroke 450s there wouldn't be no WSPA on ESPN. Quad racing would still be dead, just a bunch of guys with 20,000 fully aftermarket 250rs with no factory support. Without the 450s, this sport was going no where.

This is true. On the other hand, I agree with the others that the whole racing scene is getting a bit monotonous with all the production quads. If you gave me a choice to race a decked out 250R-based hybrid or a 450R, I would definitely choose the hybrid without a question. I just feel that the 250R hybrids are superior quads in terms of handling, feel, and power. Unfortunately for this sport to grow, pros no longer have that choice :ermm:

A 250r geometry hybrid is the best thing money can buy. You have 250r handling (best there is) with the 4 stroke power. Alot of pros would deff. be on the hybrids/250rs. The only people that would be on the 450s would be the factory riders

What about Gust and Jones.

I think I remember seeing Ellis running one for some races. Not sure though.

I told you I don't like them, where you not paying attention?

You don't git the HIT and the sudden jump up in Powerband like you do with a 2-stroke.

im pretty sure gust ran the hybrid before suzuki came out with the z400, he did this for suzuki to test what there 400 could do, and that was the beggining of gust's factory ride with suzuki.

farr ran the z400 for a year i think in 2003 when the production class was made for the pros. then the 450's came out and it has been history since then.

and gust won the gnc mx nationals in 2004 on a z400, came in 2nd or 3rd in 2005 on a z400 along with jj right behind him. harold goodman also rode the z400 in 05 along with jeremy lawson i beleive.

so the z400 had its time to shine but it has all but dissapeared along with the 400ex, since the introduction of the 450's.
