2001 400 EX, .20 over, w/ oem piston, white bro's exhaust, renthal bars, yellow plastics, new tires, edlebrock carb(400$ there), nerfs. I think that's all. I'm tierd of rebuilding motors so i want something fun and depedable. Is this my ticket?

I bought a 400ex over a 450r for a couple of reasons, 1. I didn't need a faster quad (although now I find myself trying to make the 400 faster and in that sense makes me wish I just bought the 450), and 2. reliability (the REAL selling point).

With that said, I am a bargain shopper and the best deal I could find on a 400ex WITH A TITLE was my 01 400ex, ALL stock, brand new brakes and tires, fresh service records, and extremely clean, older owner with real young kids (used to put around on so kids could follow on their mini atvs) ready to ride, ZERO PROBLEMS, went riding the next day for $1900.

I found a couple of 400ex's in the upper 2's with some nice parts, however, I found they were mx'ed a lot or had problems after searching the boards. Also, some didn't include titles.

If you can find an 01 for 2 grand that is in good shape and ready to ride, I say go for it. It's not a killer deal, but especially if it comes with the title and you have some kind of record of it, you won't be dissapointed. I found that the going rate for the cheaper 400ex's were in the mid to upper 2's, modified OR unmodified.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Remember that quad values vary substantially by region. I live in a large market with lots of buyers and there's little chance of finding a decent 400EX for $2000 around here.

I would reccommend the 400EX to anyone. It is by far the most reliable quad made.:muscle:

Yep, dependable like you want and that sounds to be a good deal.

ok, i'm sorry.

but, i'm far from rich also.
and, I also get jealous of those who are able to instantly put $10k into a brand new quad.
