I have a 2005 400ex and I just bought a K&N Powerlid for it. Since its letting in more air it came with different jets. The instructions told me to move the clip position from stock position to the 4th position. But when we took the needle out it only had 1 clip position. So I changed the main jet and put it together. it runs good.

Should It it be good with the stock needle in or get one that I can adjust?

And why would it only have 1 needle clip position?

The 05'/06' 400EX's needle is not adjustable (thanks, EPA :ermm: ).

I'm almost 100% sure you can purchase and use a 99'-04' adjustable needle if you wanted to. Or, you can use small washers that are the same size as the needle clip to raise the needle. Place the washer(s) below the clip to raise the needle.

However, none of that is likely to be necessary. Stock needle postion is probably just fine.

ive actually heard that the 05/06 carburetors are slightly bigger than years in the past. You can buy a new needle or not even worry about it if it is running fine.
