came across an 87 250r rolling chasis with some good parts on it, got a full pipe and what not, but it needs a complete engine. Ive foudn several on ebay but i dont know if they will hook right up. What should i be looking for. And if anyone has an engine they want to unload let me know.

any water cooled R engine will bolt right in. there are some small internall differences but nothing major. 85-87 engines usually go for cheeper then the later models. 87 is long rod old style tranny, 88-89 is long rod new style tranny...

ive got an 85-86 motor im building up to sell, will be running, have aftermarket clutch, cut flywheel, head mod, and porting. putting new seals in it and bearings, short rod motor. and i have various optional parts to go with it, 39mm carb, trx5 centermount.... will be asking 600 -1000 depending on the options wanted with it... it just showed up yesterday i need a couple weeks to go through it.... stock bore, some good life left in piston.

ESR TRX 5 centermount is a type of exhaust that has the end can mount between the frame rails, makes the engine run cooler and generates a little more power. fmf makes o.k. exhaust for non ported jugs but about anything is better once u start trying to squeeze all the power out of an R...

on shipping engines i can usually get it done for around 50$
