which is faster?

i have a 04 yfz and my friend has a 04 trx which one is faster?

Most people don't like to admit it (mostly Honda people) but the YFZ is usually faster than the TRX if both were bone stock.

I hear the Yfz has faster engine, but not by much.

In 2004 the YFZ was faster in 2006 the TRX is faster though

thanks for the info thier not stock we both have a filter and a slip on so it should be a good race. hopefully the yfz smokes the trx.

i remember seein that in DW. it was the older style hondas. the hondas ran like 79.8 mph and yamaha ran like 77 or 78. i used to like the hondas better but dad let me take his yfz riding and I can ride it so much faster in the woods thatn a honda. I LOVE IT. hopefully if i get this new job i will have a yfz this spring. Just my opinion and it suits my riding style better. so please dont flame on me for giving my opinion

the yfz can are better for mooding out the motor at least for the 04 the hondas will blow a head gasket at least my friends 450r does all the time and his yfz has the same stuff done and it still on it 1st strocker honda is on its 3rd

Well whoever put the motor together must not be doing something right. I've been running a high comp piston 13.5 and now a 14.1 and have never blown a OEM head gasket.

i dont really know i would have to ask him how built the motor but i think they have 520 big bores in it or something like that he just said he would never buy a honda 4 stroke to mod the motor out that muck

I am a honda person love honda die honda but mr man u r right yfz and trx bone stock yfz are faster but u put money into both trx will own neone by far

i disagree again... look at the aftermarket kits... ers for instance... i beleive the trx kit is a 480, where as the yfz is a 460... why is that? cuz it takes 480 for the honda to be as fast as a 460 yamaha...

I think it all comes down to rider between the 2 of them.

Stock for stock, the older model YFZs are slightly faster. Modded, they are either extremely close, or the TRX takes the win. Been there and done that with both of my buddies 05 YFZs and my 05 TRX.

For 06, I think they are pretty close stock. I think that uncorked, the 450r has an advantage, but that is based off of opinion seeing them run, and not personal run time on them. Modified, my experience goes with Honda as well.

The real test will be the July 2nd week-end in Mississippi. Should be alot of bikes out there to run, stock and modified. I should have pictures, and results on how I (And whoever else I know) did... fastest, or slowest.

Nothing special... just supposedly a big turnout for July 4th week-end at Sand Hill in Mississippi. I haven't had a chance to run my 440EX in a while. Time to get her all tuned up!!!
