Handlebar end cap question?

I bought a new set of handlebars for my 400ex and I'm trying to take the end caps off of my old bars. I got the caps off, but I don't know how to get the part that the cap screws into that sits in the bars? Any advice? thanks

what do you need the end caps for? the new grips should cover the hole.

Well, when I bought the bike 2nd hand, the guy before me bought some Scott grips and popped a hole in the ends so the caps would fit. When putting the grips on the new handlebars, I used dishwashing liquid as lube because I didn't know what else to use. I just want something there for now because the grips are still a little slippery. any suggestions?:confused:

I am pretty sure the end cap insert is made into the handlebar.
