YFZ 450... If you're looking for pure adrenalized speed, then a Banshee is your ride.

450ERRRRRR!

Flip a coin. Each has it's own best points. Handling goes to the zukie Power goes to the Honda. Yamaha can do some of all. If you tweak any of htese then they will out do any stock version.
I just like the looks of the honda and the motor seems to be th e most powerfull stock. It also depends what your going to be doing . Trails, mx or cross country. I just ride th eback gravel roads in the county and look for some action. sometimes it more than I want like the Missouri Highway patrol. Years ago I would have not even thought about stopping. Now they kinda of freak out when I pull over and take off my helment and there the is 50 year old man and after a few yes sirs I'm on my way. If i'd had this thing 25 years ago they would have still be eatan my dust and wondering what that was or.......i'd be 6 feet under:rolleyes:

I have always been of the opinion that advertising dollars drive magazine shootouts. I mean can you ever remember them slaming anything. I have read write ups on Chinese bikes that I can't even pronounce the name of where they they mentioned things like parts falling off, and yet they still make the story sound positive.

Any one of the three can win a race. If they are equally setup it becomes more about the rider.

But if you are trying to figure out which one to buy, YOU need to ride them and decide which one fits you.

dirt wheels is full of shiz just so you know... there is too much politics and economics involved in their magaziine...

and i cant beleive you guys say honda has the edge in regards to power... everything i have ever seen is that the yfz is by far the fastest...
i am a honda guy and love my R, but i am looking to get a 450 as well, and the yfz is what i will be gettting...

Well, I think it looks the best out of the 3. Unforunetly, opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one, and they always stink.

I have two buddies with 05s, and one with a 06 (YFZ), and both of my 450rs edge them out in speed. They even agree. Everyone has different experiences with the bikes though, so it isn't like you are gonna always have the same results.:ermm:

like you said- everyone had different experiences... just me personally, but you couldnt convince me that the honda is faster... we have an 06 honda and yfz, and although i like the feel of the trx better, the yfz is hands down faster... even the trx owner says so... says that yah they both have power, but the trx trails off sooner and the yfz just keeps pulling into higher rpms...

LOL, just pointing that out. I feel the same way about the YFZ, but I bet that if I went somewhere else where one would bust my ***, I would probably feel different LOL.

imo the suzuki is the best in stock form just because its low and wide already.

now start modding each 450 and the honda and suzuki start pulling ahead. they both have very strong engines. look at the nationals for xc,mx, and tt and u will see a ton more hondas then nething else. this is for one reason because the engine can be modded to make a lot of hp and still be very reliable.

since the suzuki is fairly new, not many ppl have them but if your looking into having the best stock quad around, then my vote goes to the suzuki, but if you plan on dumping in a ton of money and making it a racer then either honda or suzuki.

by next year it will be all honda and suzuki...yamaha will begin to fall by the way side.

I can't really believe Yamaha's going to let that happen.

Remember they still haven't anounced the 07 YFZ's yet, and I bet it will be more than some new color options.

But like I said before, ride them all and get the one that fits you. The better rider would win with any of the three.

I have had 05 450R and now have an 06 450ER. I have had 3 YFZ450`s. All have been modded. The 450R`s are more comfortable. The YFZ`s are more snappy and obviously faster. I ride with a few LTR`s. All I will tell you is they like the handling, however, they are not impressed with the power!

May i also point out Just wait for the 2007 gg 450 ;)

right on... yah i was gunna meet up with ya'll when you came last march but ended up going down to brazil for a couple weeks instead... yah let me know... starting mid october im down at the dunes about every other weekend until easter... however i spend most of my time at gordons well, although i usually make at least one trip to glamis every season... if not more... but if i recall correctly ya'll ride over there and to buttercup anyhow...

which ones do you keep in yuma? i know you got/had a couple Rs, and that honshee, and....

what about beerock- that old man doing ok? i havent seen him post in a while... hopefully all is well with him... ya'll are buds right?

Yea Beerock had some back surgery a few months back. He has not been around since. I have the Honshee which is being completely redone out there and a new 450ER as backup. Both are completely set up for the dunes. We ride long trips usually from the washes to Gecko down sand highway to Gordons, Buttercup, Mexico then back through sidewinder through the mountains and back through the dunes. With many different trip variations. We refuel at either Pair-a-dice or at the Shell station on HWY 8 at sidewinder. I still have a built YFZ and a Complete ROLL DESIGN LOBO 2/ 350R here in N.J. for the rips here in the EAST!

Yami is def. the fastest, Honda is good all around, Suz is an MX bike and will require the least money to make it race ready. Although I've ridden a LTR in the woods and it's fine for trail riding, but for GNCC it's need to be narrower.

It just depends on what you want. At this point they're all pretty damn good. You just have to weigh out the options, and pick what suits you best.

Well it was a "little" more than new color options.

Factory Oil mod, some brake upgrades, upgrade to the clutch, new colors and graphics, Pro Taper bars, and better shocks on the SE. Definatly not what I was hoping for though....

If your gonna keep it stock, buy the LT-R*(for MX im saying)..if not the YFZ or TRX will suit you fine with upgrades...IMO It doesn't matter what your racing, because, for the millionth time said, "Rider, Rider, Rider."

I would disagree with your assesment. Aside from the linkage connection needing a quick weld on the earlier runs.. I haven't seen any need for gusseting to run it MX. All TRX and YFZ frames require gusseting in order to run MX.

Also TRX & YFZ frames are made out of mild steel (I beleive). The LT-R frame is made of high tensile steel which is much stronger and less likley to fatigue when flexing.

Now, I know about the lower shock linkage mounts on the earlier runs of the LT-R failing, due to poor reinforcment. Has been fixed, and recalled.

Other than that, I am unaware of any other issues with the frames. I haven't seen any LT-R frames breaking in half. (A torn mount isn't a frame broken in half).

LoL, you guy's are cracking me up.

But, in all seriousness... all of the YZF is the best, Honda is the best, Suzuki is the best.. fanaticism should make one thing obvious. All three of the major 450's are very very close in quality. What is going to determine which one is best for whom is going to be the riders style. One rider's going to have faster lap times on the 450r. The next rider is going to be fastest on the YFZ, and yet another will be faster on the LT-R than he is in on the others.

Just think 8 years ago, our choices to argue over were..

Honda: TRX300EX
Yamaha: Banshee/Warrior
Suzuki: only had Utilities.
Kawasaki: Mohave, Lakota
