They were made in different years.

i beleive the 88/89 were moved foward for more stability... i could be wrong, but this sounds correct...

true they are moved forward and they dont have removable ball joints

Uppers had removable ball jionts. I'm not so sure that 88-89's were moved forward an inch though. I'm pretty sure the only difference was in swingarm length.

The 86/87 a-arm bushings and the 88/89 a-arm bushings are not the same. The 86/87 upper arm had a removable ball joint.
