Knuckles

Will a 1988's caliper protector, bolt onto a 400ex's knuckle? using 250r calipers? The reason im asking is because I just ordered 400ex knuckles, and 250r caliper adapters, and want to know if im going to need to buy 400ex caliper protectors.(im upgrading knuckles becuase i didnt have enough $ to get them when i first got my Gibson a-arms, and i used the 250r knuckles.

I'm pretty sure they are different. You don't need them anyway, we always take them off even for woods racing.

thanks for the reply Jeff, but arnt they there so no rocks get caught in the caliper?, result= one of the front tires locking up and the rider going over the bars. Just wondering

I think that is the idea but I haven't had it happen even once in the last 12 years of racing GNCC's. The way I look at it is if a small rock gets in there it will have a harder time getting back out and will bounce around inside the inner wheel.
