Only mod i added was the K & N filter with the Pro Design Flow. i started it up and let it warm up and took it down the road but ever time id gas it it would sputter like i said i went it a stage 1 jet change the Needle and it was said to plug the main air jet so other then that i cant give you 2 many more detals. stock exhaust, and they said run stage 1 jets with stock exhaust

But what size main jet did you install? And on what position did you place the needle clip? With an air filter as the only mod it's likely that you put in way too big of a main jet. That fouled your plug which is why it won't start.

I dont see how it can be to big there was only 2 sizes in the jet kit and they were labeled as Stage 1 and Stage 2 other then that i dont dont know any particular, But shes going in the shop today

wow, only 2 jets and labeled stage one and stage 2...i would take it out and get your money back...

what year 450 are you running? when you say sputtering, what exactly is it doing...the more info you give us the easier we can help you

[rant on]

Yet another reason why I don't care for "jet kits". They offer the illusion of being a "bolt on" solution for proper jetting. Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple.

Forget labels like "stg 1" or "stg 2". What you need to pay attention to is the size of the jets you are installing. There will be a number on the jet that indicates its size.

considering they are only labeled stage 1 and 2, it is possible that they are also not labeled like a good jet should be. my guess is with the exhaust, he should be about a 170-190 maybe... it is hard to say with so little info given

WELL... haha we figured out the problem there was 2 of them one was when i was reading the instructions, i forgot to put in the main jet all i put in was the adapter .sooo that lead to the bog and the second problem was i wasnt gettin enough back pressure and that problem was solved with my new fatboy 4 exhaust system

I have the dyno jet kit also but have not installed it. you guys were asking what size were they well they use there own numbers they dont list what they are its pretty stupid its like they are trying to keep it a secret or something but mine have numbers and letters there have been posts about it b4,thats why Im considering selling it and just buying some jets and the crf needle

I'd save your money and stay away from those jet kits. Just go to the parts counter and get a oem 170 main to start with. I'm running the Prodesign k&n and a DMC slip on with the airbox lid off and the 170 seems to be perfect. I changed the pilot jet to a 48 from the stock 42 and it seems to be to big so in goes the 45 and that should do it. I just love this new 450R!!:p

z135 is it a 06? my directions say to NOT remove the air box lid but to remove the snorkel?Im still trying to figure out what the hell that is. what other mods do you have?

450ERRRRRR!

The snorkale is th etube looking thing that's attached to your airbox lid. It's my understanding that on the 06's your remove the whole lid unlike the 04-04 where you cut out a hole because it needs a vacume for the carb to work right. Theis is not needed on the 06 with the new FCR carb.If you really want detailed info check out

Best bet if you dont wanna remove the air box lid is to drill some hole in it and line it with a mesh plate or mesh net.. helps pretty good

I do not think that will solve your problem. You may need a bigger pilot jet. I see you are from NC do you run any of the Mid East Hare Scrambles?

If your values need adjusted, this will make it hard to start.

i dont see why they would need adjusted the bikes not even 2 months old yet
