yesterday in my second moto my bike just cut out in the middle of the race and I got slammed by the guy behind me. After finally getting untangled I got my bike started and was on my way. About a half a lap later it cut out again. Could I have overheated. Everything else was fine. It starts up fine, ran fine when I was home.

Could the bike have overheated? does it shut down like that when it overheats? It was literally like 95 degrees yesterday racing in the southwick, which is very sandy track which didnt help because the motor is revving pretty high at all times.

yesterday i was riding in 100 degree weather and my bike was definetly running hotter than it ever has before. it was a sandy track. my bike did just die in a corner and i think that it was riding for 25 minutes hard in the hot weather. and that was the first time i have ever seen my fan turn on during 3rd gear+ riding. im going to switch to engine ice soon and see if that helps.

Try to ride it in just normal weather, and if it dies then, check your coil.

also, make sure there is plenty of coolant in the bottle.

Some of the other racers said they've heard of this happening before and they say it could be due to the gas vent being clogged. But I have an aftermarket check valve thingy. Has anyone else heard of this happening before?

And they said it probably was not because of the overheating idea that I thought it was.

Them small gas vents will clog and stall your bike out. I know a few people who had them and none of them use them anymore for this reason.

Have a fuel filter on your quad? check to see if it is clogged.

It is probably your vent hose on your tank, from what you have described that has to be the problem. The little check valves clog and prevent your fuel from flowing properly into the tank. I no longer use them.
