I am looking into doing one of these but figured I would see what others would recommend along the way.

Whats needed and should be done when doing a 426? 440??

I would just like to know the things like what plugs to run, jet sizes, cam opinions, and any others

thanks

440ex - new sleeve required, HD head studs recommended, stronger rod recommended, and it will get pretty hot so maybe an aftermarket oil cooler.

426ex - new sleeve recommended, head stud recommended depending on compression, stronger rod wouldn't hurt. This setup will get very hot with the stock sleeve but will stay cool with a bigger sleeve.

416ex - pretty much nothing different from stock.

our 416 and 426 are actually a little faster than our 440. the 440 does not rev as high. i would go with a 416 if it was me.

your quad is only a 2005 so i would highly recommed going with a 416ex with hot cams stage 2. Since its such a new bike you want to keep it as reliable as possible and also you wanna save some room for more bores later on in the future. If i was you i would do the 416, then when it needs another motor job go with the 426, and if it needs another motor job in the future go with the 440. or you can also go with a 416 and add a stroker to it so you'll have more power but still have room for more bores.

I'm not sure if its because of the year of my quad or what, but since I did the 440 kit(2 months ago) I have had a lot of things going that cant handle the stress, it could be because they are stock parts and they are all 5 years old, but expect to upgrade more than your engine with the 440 kit.
