sprocket thoughts

Hey guys i was wanting to change my sprockets to lower my top speed and gain more through the lower gears for more torque for like hills and speed bursts ... thanks..

I'm pretty sure the 04 400ex has a 15T front sprocket. If so get ya a 14T front sprocket and see how you like that. if ya want even more bottom end power go with less teeth in the front. And you can also add teeth to your rear sprocket for more lowend power.

Yeah, stock is 15/38. I run 14/39 and it only goes like 62-63 but it gets there fast.

I like bottom end power the most. don't get me wrong i like the topend too.

I run 22" rear tires and tried a 14T front...it didn't give me enough low end back so I dropped to a 13T and love it. 13's are kinda hard to find. Mine's a JT Racing.

i think you'd be surprised at what one tooth on the front sprocket does... i wouldnt change two teeth at once... drop 1 and see how you like it... i would be very surprised if it wasnt enough

yeah, with 20's, one tooth down should be plenty...with 22's dropping to a 13 puts the speeds back to about stock.
