Just about to buy front 450r stock shocks and put them on a 05' 400ex. Will they fit without problems? Some shops say yes, and some say no. Just wondering if anyone has done this?

Pretty sure it will work with a little grinding on the shock eyelets. I'm sure someone who has done it will be along shortly to elaborate. Or, you can use the search feature--there's been several threads on this.

this should help, a little grinding is involved but it is very simple.

A lot of people keep saying to cut or grind the shock, I say do what I did and grind part of the frame.
1) grind the little nut that holds the the plastic bracket.
2) grind a little of the frame.

I used 2 floor jacks to take mine off and install my shocks, this allows you to line up the holes perfectly.
Don't bang or hammer the shock in there to fit, take it slow and look to see what is obstructing the shock and grind a little at a time. I just don't think its right to grind down the shock, I'd rather cut part of the frame/bracket away.

Just my 2cents.
