2001 400ex $1800!! PICKUP ONLY

I have a complete 2001 400ex except for the framei bought the bike originally to modify it but now im going to only use the frame for a prodject im working on im selling everything from tires to motor and everything inbetween complete for 1800US i live in michigan. It has a pro circuit T4 exhasut and k&n air filter and rejetted but that is all for mods the rest is bone stock it has r/a shredders on the back and stock 01 400ex tires on the front first 1800 gets it my zip code is 49424

The bike and everything on it are in perfect working order. Nothing is wrong with any of the parts on this bike.

You crack me up sometimes. First of all, I was interested in this machine. I have a buddy who has a frame I could get for probably 100$ and could have myself a cheap second fourwheeler. Now here is where the problems began. All I asked is if he would give a bill of sale, and if the engine VIN numbers were still there. What kind of an answer did I get? Oh...suddenly his "whole bike minus a frame" became a "quad assembled from parts so there is no paperwork" Thats where the problem came from. Would you buy a quad without paper work? Would you advice friends and others to buy quads without paperwork? Whats wrong with a little self regulation, a little detective work. If he would have just stated, "yes, I will sign a bill of sale" that would have been the end of it, and I would not have responded how I did. Can you see my point, even a little bit lerch? I know you hate me for some reason, but be a big boy and get over it.

And as an afterthought, I was interested in buying this machine. I have cash in the bank and given a good enough deal I would have made the drive today. Do you even know me at all? I rotate quads in my garage like I change underware. Don't tell me what I was and wasn't going to do. The very first thing I check when buying a quad is if they are going to give me paperwork. If they aren't going to, **** them.

Furthermore, I did click the "report thread to moderator" button after his post of

You are stuck on this whole buddy buddy thing with the moderators. I HAVE NEVER MET THE MODERATORS. THEY DON't KNOW ME AND I DON't KNOW THEM. The only contact I've ever had is pappy powdercoating some parts for me. So you can throw that theory out the window.

he's got a point. usually people get very defensive if they're being challenged and they don't have the answeres or they know they are wrong or if they are trying to hide something. but, on the other hand, it's not always good to jump to conclusions right away.

Thanks, that is a very good point though. I just find it a lot better to error on the side of caution. I found this dumb quote from a dumb movie and it made me think about this situation:

As I have been saying, this whole situation could have been played out differently if Hawhatwhat would have said one sentence: "Yes, I will give a bill of sale, and all of the VIN numbers are visible for you to examine"

the first thing derek asked was for vin, bill of sale, ect... then hawhatwhat exploded. it was unprovoked anger. derek didn't state that he wasn't interested, he just wanted all the info before he got serious about anything. derek made accusations after hawhatwhat blew up at him. i don't condone the accusations but there was no need for hawhatwhat to get angry at someone looking for some info.

I still see nothing wrong with my first posts to him. If you go back through any of my post inquiring on other peoples items for sale you will almost always find this phrase " and I am assuming you have no problem writing me a bill of sale, correct? " Maybe I was more blunt about this one, but then again I have never bought something without a frame (you know, that thing that holds the VIN numbers, the main distinguishing mark that makes fourwheelers different and the only mark the authories hang onto to trace stolen goods, yeah that one)

There was nothing at all wrong with derekhonda's questions. Fact is, there ARE a lot of shady deals that occur on the internet, and this one did seem a little suspicious. A guy was selling everything EXCEPT the item that contained the VIN number, the one distinguishing characteristic used to track stolen vehicles. It isn't proof positive the seller is a crook, but it DOES raise awareness.

And there was nothing wrong with derek asking those questions in the open instead of in PMs. Me, personally, I WANT these questions asked in the open, to protect unsuspecting buyers.

Here is the real clincher. IF IF IF there was nothing suspicious going on, all the seller would need to do is say "Yes, I'll provide a bill of sale, and I would also let the buyer inspect the frame". Clear, simple, up-front. If the seller has nothing to hide, then he doesn't have anything to fear.

It sound cheesy and cliche, but awareness is everybody's responsibility. There's nothing wrong with derek stepping up, although he could probably have done it more tactfully. However, lerch, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT your responsibility to flame or attack other members. If you have a problem with another member and any "self-righteous" posts, bring it to a moderator's attention, do NOT handle it yourself and create a flame war. Consider yourself warned.
