If you want speed get the banshee. The 250r does good in the woods and has ok speed. The z would be great in the woods an dhave alright speed. If you get the z, the 1st thing you need to do is tear the whole thing down and have the frame gusseted. This will save alot of time and frustration.

For all out speed and horse power get the shee,i have one i like it till i get in the tight stuff then i hate it.If your on more open trail's were u can get into it a little bit its fine. The 250r is a great mx bike and its pretty good in the woods, like the shee its real easy to get alot of hores power. The z is a great bike they handle awsome and they got decent power. But the 03's had alot of frame problems around the shock mounts and stuff. The 04's wernt as bad but some still had problems,But the 05's are built damn good.Hope this helps out.

for trails and jumps i say get the Z400. i have a z400 and a banshee. the banshee is great for open fields and dunes and such. but youd be better off in the woods on a Z. all three have an edge on each other in some form. so it basically comes down to riding terrain and how comfortable you feel with doing top end rebuilds and mechanical things like that. cant beat the feel of a 2 stroke though :D

my friend owns a farm and we ride there a lot and we have a track there but i do ride a lot of trials and i heard about some problems with the 03 z400 and maybe the 04's but yeah 2 strokes are amazing but i want the best quad i can get

theres nothing wrong with a z400 on open farm land. it just wont have as fast of a top speed as the banshee. if your looking for an all around quad for trails, track, and farm land i say go with the z400.

the only bad year with a z is the 03s because the frames tended to crack. mines been good to me so far.. any other year Z is great. i LOVE mine for the woods, perfect bike for it. very comfy and power is plentiful and predictable. the first thing youll want to do is get a new filter and rejet. that alone gives you tons of extra power its unreal.

man, IMO the best and most versatile one of the bunch is the 250r...

and yes, i am a previous banshee owner and will likely own one in the future as well... banshees are great and a blast.... in the right situation...

z400s are pretty much gay, and if i was going to get a 4 stroke other thehn the yfz or trx 450, i would be getting a raptor...

the 250r is a blast in the dunes, a blast to jump, its good for mx, xc, etc... its got the best of all worlds... it handles great, its light, it has enough low end to lug it, but also had that 2 stroke powerband... it doesnt need two of everything...

it also depends on what is available to you... if all you can get is a POS R, i wouldnt go for it... ive got a buddy that is selling a near perfect 88 that i would reccomend to anybody... problem is i live in AZ

I agree with 250r4life for the MOST part. Personally, I think that of the bunch, a 250r would be the best all-around quad. A very good friend of mine has owned a ton of them throughout the years. Very nice quads... hell, they are legendary for a reason!

Other than that, a Z is a good quad as well, though. You will be happy with it as well. IMO, the Banshee is a great quad, but is built pretty much only for speed.

if you know how to ride then get the banshee, ive went from a 400ex to one and theres only 2 things i hate bout the shee, the ex is a better balanced quad and has low end grunt for the trails, but if u want something that will put a smile on your face day after day, get the shee

well... for a 15 year old kid on a budget, a banshee can be pretty expensive to fix when (not if) it breaks...

hmm... you brought up the money factor... your parents money and your money are two different things... but if youre so well off, just go buy a yfz 450 then...

well since your 15, you would be better off with a z400/400ex, they are alot easier to ride and ride one of those for a yr or so and then step on up the ladder to whatever u want
