building my son a 300ex for mx. it has lsr plus 2 a-rms already but is still not very wide in the front. got a few questions. first if i put plus 2 400ex a-arms what width would i end up with in the front. then on the axle i figure a 300ex plus 4 would not make the rear end wide enough so how do you end up with the right width in the rear, will an aftermarket 400ex axle fit with no mods and give you the extra width you need to match the front end. thanks

I have 400ex stock a arms on mine, but I run offset rims that add +2. It should be about the same width as me here is a pic. I have PEP front shocks now.

not to steal the thread.. but are +2 300ex arms equal to stock 400ex arms???

thanks for the info. here is what i have decided to do. sell the lonestar plus 2 300ex a-arms that are on it now. buy a set of 400ex plus 2 a-arms. now for the kicker. my son has raced mini quads for 4 years now and is sponsored by works shocks. i called sandy the engineer at works and here is what he told me. the 300ex shock mounting points are terrible, also adding the 400 a-arms and using the shock relocator is just as bad because you end up with almost the same shock mouinting points just farther apart. what he told me to do was use the 400 a-arms but not the shock relocator. he builds a special shock for the 400 a-arms useing the stock 300ex top shock mount. in 3 years he has never steered me wrong on my sons mini quad and his shocks. so the lonestar a-arms are for sale and looking for some used plus 2 400 a-arms.

400ex a-arms are 1.25in wider on each side.

So hows the 400ex a-arms runnin on the 300?? Worthwhile investment? And what other work is involved with mounting them?

I guess I don't understand that engineers comment on shock relocators being a bad thing.....while it's true there are some cheap relocators out there that may just move the mount points OUT...there are GOOD ones available that are designed not only to move the mount points out but UP as well keeping the geometry correct...

However...I guess being in the shock business a person would be biased to selling special shocks for the application.;)

actually i dont think bias had anything to do with it. i had planned on getting the relocator and he could have sold me 400 shocks for that application. he likes the stock top mount because it puts the shock at more of an angle. like i said he has not done me wrong in 3 years on the mini quad so i think i will go with what he advises.

Hey...nuttin wrong with going with what you trust...just stating my opinion on his comment is all.:)

As for myself I am going with 450r shocks and an adaptor...just waiting for the adaptor to get here...it should be today or tomorrow and when I get it back together I will check and compare angles and see how close to stock it comes.
