I checked around Waterloo here when I needed mine done. The cheapest quote I had was $150 :huh I think you can get them from Web Cam's and you may pay over $200.
I had mine cyro treated, for around $50. My engine builder swears by this treatment. There is a place in Cedar Rapids Iowa that does it if you are interseted.
Hope this helps...

I'd like to find and alternative to hard-facing as well. The money that most performance shops are charging for the job seems outrageous to me (>$200). What the heck does it take?

NO you do not have to hardface your rockers with a HotCams Stage 1 or 2, although there are a few people on here that say you should (KingRage) I have had mine in for about 2 months now with no problem and love it. C&D Racing has a few in stock as we speak and they are the cheapest around. Give them a call and talk to Dusty. There number is in my sig.

From what my engine builder told me is when they freeze the item, it rearrages the molecules so it has a stronger bond. He done it to the rods on his jr dragsters. He is getting around 27 hp out of a 5 hp Briggs engine. :devil
Scot swears by this process, he does a lot of engine parts. Head, cylinders, rods, ect. I need to call him today I will try to get a web site or email adderss for you.

Here is a pretty good web site that tells a little bit about it. http://members.aol.com/~DaveMedlyn/index.html
Other wise do a search on cryogenics, it will bring up lots of web sites that tell about it. :D
