I am considering kenda klaws or knarly's, razr 1, or original holeshots. They all sell for $55, I have searched using the advanced feature and read 11 pages of opinions, but has dirtwheels or any other magazine done a similar shootout. I ride rocky, muddy, snow trails? There is never much hardpack in new england and i do not race at all. Trails and hillclimbs and occasional sand pits, all the soft stuff.

razr 2s are the best trail tire money can buy IMO. nice deep lugs and very durable. best tire ive ever used and will ever use. im sold on them.

Razr 2s...They hook up almost too good... If you're tryin to slide the rear around a corner and let off at all on the throttle they WILL grab.

I've had regular holeshots and Klaws. I prefer the Klaws.. They hook up great in just about anything and slide very predictably.

i agree
the razr 1's only last half as long as rzr 2's

i vote razr 1's or 2's!

hands down. Klaws. They are reversible.

although i absolutely love holeshots and their grip, they do wear pretty quickly... my good riding buddy switched to razrs and said they arent quite as good as holeshots in the hook up department, but they wear a whole lot better... i think i'll try the razrs on my next purchase

for xc razr 2s are amazing especially the fronts, some ppl like razr 1s on the rear though..thats a good combination...for mx id never use razr 2s or even razr 1s, id look into a good mx tire, and if ya wanted to stay with maxxis id sugget the razr mx

so would Razr mx tires be good for XC racing to?

for both xc and mx racing on a single set of tires, i would recommend kenda klaws, in sizes 21-7-10 up front maybe even 20-6-10 if you arent worried about clearance and the 20-11-8/9/10 depending on your rear rim size...i take these tires before razrs mx/1/2 because the tread pattern is the same or very close and they are set up for both mx/xc, while the razr series has specific tread patterns for xc/mx. also the rears are reversable so you could set that up for the conditions

Same here. My only complaint with them would be that they are directional which means you can't turn them around for a nice square edge when they get worn. Otherwise I have had mine for 2 years and they are hardly worn so they seem to hold up well. They're light for a 6 ply tire also. I would def buy another set though since they are so low priced. They hook up great and slide when I need them to. They are the best all around tire I have tried so far.
