i rode on water!!

well while surfing the internet the other night i watched videos of quads and dirtbikes riding on top of a pond.well while riding today at the pits in brockton i decided to try it.the "puddle"(could be classified mas a pond) was about 40-50 feet long,20-25 feet accross and about 4 feet deep in most of the middle of it.

well i went at it 3 rd gear full throttle.i was like WOW IM DOING IT!!!!!! then i felt the nose drop and was like oh CRAP!!!so as the rear end started comeing up i bailed.i jumped off over the bars.as i hit the water the seat hit me in the ***.

i got up and stood in the water up to waist lookin for my quad.and there it was about 5 feet away from me upside down and floating.i tipped it back over and it was still floating and somehow i lost my hood.

i sent my buddy stumpy to get a chain off my truck to pull me out of the water and back to the truck.as he was going i found my hood floating on the other end of the puddle,the end i shouldve be driving out of.

we get back to the truck to drain my airbox,dry my plug and see if it still ran.it had water halfway up the intake snorkle thingy.stumpy pulled the drain tube off and about 2 gallons of water came out of my airbox.we tipped it up on its grab bar so the water can drain out of the motor and exhaust.used the exhaust of my truck to dry the air filter.then we tipped it up on its front bumper to drain the spark plug hole.

we finally got it running after a few miniutes.and of course i didnt bring the video camara this weekend.but now i know that if i decide to try this again but at a lake my quad will float and not sink.stumpy said i made it half way across before crashing.so i drove about 20-25 feet on top of the water!!

kinda sucked wrecking but man WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!

ya the first half gave me the idea to try skimming the water.and the second half is just funny especially the song

Go faster next time and keep that front end up!

And make sure to drain your oil as many times as it takes to get the water out of your engine.

^^oh yea,

If you do sink it, I would recomend draining your gas, oil, and get all the water out of your airbox.

Well theres where u went wrong. On my 450r i hit a 30-40' puddle 5th pinned. I make it easy but i would never skim in 3rd.

i wasnt going to do it,well didnt plan on it till i came around the corner and just went for it.i figured 1 of 2 things would happen,1: i would make it accross or 2: id crash.well i got halfway accross and crashed.but oh man what a rush that was!!!

It's only a couple months old...I just saw a post brought up the other day that was 3 years old!

And I skipped water the other weekend. Flying down a dusty trail 4th gear wide open behind a utility when I saw him veer off to the right after a bride. By the time I realized why he moved to the right it was too late, the trail happened to be flooded from the swamp and made two huge puddles about 25 feet long or more and 2-3 feet deep in some spots. Skipped across the first puddle but it created enough drag as to where I couldn't make the second one and almost lost it. Ended up stopping 3/4 of the way through the second puddle from not being able to skip it and almost flew off the side of the quad. As I made it through a friend behind me wasn't as lucky and made it through the first puddle and wiped on the second one. His front end ended up in the swamp which was quite a drop off, had to be at least 5 feet deep.

a guy told me once that if u pin the throttle and lock up the front brake swhen u hit water like that u will just skip acrossed it. i tried it and it worked.
