question about changing oil

ok this is probably a dumb question but im used to 2strokes and not having to change it.. after i change my oil do i need to do anything b4 i start my bike? when i change it it wont start for a while and quits on me when it will start untill i go thru that for awhile..so is it becasue all the oil is just in the oil tank and not engine? if so what do i do becuase i dont want to damage my engine

on a 400ex//i know on 450's u kick it over a few times with the key off so the oil will flow thru with out starting..but dont know about a 400 since it only has eletric start

The oil should have little to no affect on starting. It should start right up even with no oil in it--don't ask how I know that!--or when overfilled.

thats really weird cuz my bike always is imposible to start once i change it
