I am putting on a PRM skid... I got the .250, full coverage rear skid plate. I was wondering if anyone uses the hose clamps PRM supplies for the front of the skid? After bolting it up, seems pretty solid without putting on the ugly clamps.

I used one on the right side. I did it for safety so that it has some support in the front. I think they should have come up with something more robust in the front. Good luck

Thanks, and I agree... ;)

I have the same skid plate and I could not get the bolts to line up without using the clamps. Go for a test run without the clamps to see if it vibrates anywhere.

I just put one of their freestyle rear skidplates through hell after racing the Baja 500. I had a spare incase that one did'nt hold up for the entire race. I didnt need it. I'm pretty sure I will continue using them for the Baja 1000.

What did you guys do about not having the chain guide on with the skid plate on.

I have one but did not want to put it on afraid of losing the chain without the guide in place.

I was worried about that also. But after 450+ miles I did'nt have any problems.

Are you running the chain with the 1.8 to 2.2 inches of slack called for in the owners manual.

I've run mine for 3 months now and love it. I keep the recommended amount of slack in the chain and I haven't seen any wear on the chain guide. The only down fall to this skid is you can't put a bigger rear sprocket on with out modifications, other than that this skid rocks.

Good to hear this ^^^ That's what I expect from PRM... Good stuff. ;)

btw... Did you use the clamps on the front of the skid plate? I went on a 3 hour trail ride last Sunday, which included lots of rocks and bouncing around... I had no probs and the skid plate is still solid without the hose clamps.

the thought of that thing falling down at high speed made me put those stupid clamps on
