What were the main problems with the 2004 450R. I was looking at one. And I was wondering what type of problems to expect with the bike. And what differences does the 2004 have than the 2005?
Thanks

Mine is an 04 i bought it used witha bout 20 hours on it i would say it ahs about 50 now so that is bout 30 hours in less than 6 months and mine still runs just as good as the day i got it only thing problem wise ive had were my axle bearing went out rather fast but thats a quick fix.

i remember something about crankshaft bearings going bad. and the only real diff between the 04 and 05's is that some of the motor parts have been slightly beefed up. honda hasent said this but guys who have had the same 04 part fail several ties use the 05 edition and it holds up perfecly. if the bike has been used a lot then i would have a dealler look over every inch of it to make sure there is nothing really wrong with it.

It has over 200 hours on it now. I only change my oil every 10 hours no matter what. I have yet to have engine trouble. I broke a spindle this last time I took it up the mountain. I also had trouble keeping my axle tight for a while but thats about all I ever had trouble with on my R.

When I first got my 04 right after the first oilchange

I bought an '04 during the summer of that year and have had no troubles whatsoever with it. I've got about 150 hours or so on it. It has been quite a good quad for everything that I have done with it. It has seen a wide array of terrain and conditions, but I am not extremely rough on things.

10% of the 04-05 have a crank problem. They usually go i the first 10 hours. I highly recommend oil changes.

mine crank went. its a good excuse to make it faster!!!!!
