a few questions

how many links are there in a stock chain?
what size are the stock sprockets?
and how will 18 inch tires effect the midrange with stock gearing

Depending on what year, I think the front sprocket is either a 14 or15 tooth. I don't know about the rear, but a smaller rear sprocket will give you the effect of less power. It will also give you more top speed. A smaller front sprocket will emphasize the powerband and make it pull stronger, but you will lose top speed.

i have an 04 and i changed the gearing when i firsrt bought it but now that i am getting 18 tires i will have no topend
i have a 14 front and a 39 rear i was thinking going to a 15 front and a 37 rear how well do you think this will work

Note that the stock rev limiter is NOT 8250. It's 9200, I think.

I think going up one tooth on the front sprocket should be enough to compensate. not sure though, never messed with my gearing. but instead of adding one up front and taking 2 off the back, i would just add two up front. you'd have almost the same gearing because adding 1 up front is equivelant of taking 3 off the back, and doing it that way would save you money.

stock chain, 520X94, 94 links

15 front 38 rear

18's in the rear will let it run a hair faster on topend, not much midrange effect.
