I was talking to my cousin and he was telling me that a 426ex with stage 2 cam and 450R carb would beat a 450R (I'm assuming in a drag race). He said ask anyone on the ATV forums, so here I am. Which would win? I said the 450R.

There are too many unknown variables to say with 100% certainty. But if you make more controls out of the situation and took the same size and weight rider with the same abilities and the ex had a stock exhaust and airbox, with just the big bore kit, carb, and cam vs a stock 450r the 450r is going to win. The 450r is lighter and has more power.

Like I said before there are a ton of variable here that aren't mentioned. So it is impossible to say for sure, but the 426 is going to make somwhere in between 36-40 HP and weighs about 25-35 pounds more than a 450r. The 450r is making between 40-45 HP and weighs less. So the 450r has the advantage. Now I can tell you from experience power doesn't mean everything. Rider ability, stamina, and endurance mean far more than raw power. I am really really fast for 2-3 laps and then I die out. My quad is way faster than a stock 400 ex, but 2 weekends ago I was beat by a 440ex and a 400ex. I didn't get beat because their quads were faster, I got beat cause I couldn't hang on for 5 laps. So I stay ahead for the first 3 and then well get passed by the guys that run the same pace for the entire race.
