03 400ex bone stock except for uni filter. ~200ft elevation. airbox lid on. I am rejetting my carb as it was way too lean before. A keihan 152 main is slightly rich while a 150 seems too lean according to spark plug. Both seem to run smoothly although with the 152 it seems to power surge wide open. With the 152 it bogs and stalls off idle when i romp on it, while the 150 is smooth at all rpm ranges. I am about 3 turns out on the pilot screw b/c the pipes would heat up too much before (lean). I may be able to go a little less than that (2 3/4 perhaps). I would prefer to be rich in the summer as that might translate well into the winter. Should i adjust the needle with the 152 in? or should i adjust the needle with the 150? any other suggestions is appreciated. i've been taking the carb out everytime for the adjustments, even pilot screw so it's been time consuming. can you read a spark plug based on idle only?
