I assumed you removed the circlips?

You may have to heat up the piston to get it out if its really stuck.

Needle nose pliers but I prefer using a nice "pick" set. If you have a Harbor Freight tools nearby you they will have them and come in handy in a variety of situations. They look like the picks the dentist uses on your teeth. Sears may carry them but I never really checked :ermm:

A small pick or flat blade screw driver. Pry up one end and then work it around. They like to fly out sometimes--DON'T drop one into the crankcase.

I'd suggest getting a service manual to help you out. To be frank, if you didn't know about those circlips than there could easily be other important things you're not aware of. It sucks learning things the hard way. A service manual will help walk you through most everything.

I agree, stop and get a manual! You will be glad you did, it has all the torque specs you will need!

Good luck!

PS make sure you buy new circlips in case you did not.

edit- i re-read and you forgot to remove the circlips... easy to remove with needle nose.
