Due to going away for serving our country -- I havent had time to service my 2001 Honda Sporttrax that I bought used B4 I left

What would be the best tool to remove the spark plug?
A regular deep socket has too thick of a wall on it.

Is there a special tool for removal.

Thanks for the helpful advice'

you can do to things:
1: grind down regular socket so that it fits or:
2: buy one of these- motion pro spark plug socket-18mm (http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/product/18mm_spark_plug_socket/)

i went the number 2 route. it works nicely. althoug i got it cheaper forom somewhere that i am not allowed to mention since they are not a site sponsor

On another bike I bought used the tool kit was MIA. I bought the original tool kit plug wrench from Honda. I think it was around $6 plus shipping.

the newer made sockets are larger in outside diameter (weaker metal=thicker socket)than the older ones,so they dont fit .This is why some say there's fit and some say it wont fit.If you have a way to measure the o.d. of the socket the maximum dimension is .927"

I thought it had something to do with that, or the casting of the head.

The Craftsman socket I use is almost 20 years old:p With my cheap caliper it measures about .925....
