Changing the front sprocket up a tooth or down a tooth does wat?
Also changing the rear tooth up or down does wat?

Wat is the stock 04 400ex front sprocket and rear?

Stock is 15 front, 38 rear. Changing one tooth in the front is about equivelant to changing 3 in the rear. going down in the front will get you more torque with slightly about 5mph less top end and going up will get you more top end less torque. The rear is opposite of front. going up in rear = more torque down = more speed. when i had stock bore with few mods i dropped one in the front and loved it for trail and woods riding but with my 416 build i went back to stock gearing due to the added power the gears IMO were just too short.

he pretty much summed it up. i geared my bike down one tooth on the front and its got lots more torque and accelerates alot faster. but like he said, the gears are alot shorter and it tops out alot faster. im a trails guy and its perfect gearing for woods. but once u get it in an open spot like sand or fields or somthing, youll wish you hadnt geared it down.
