So my buddy bought the new 2005 400ex just when it came out and he rode it like you would ride a quad. He got it back from the shop one day for routine maintance and he rode it then the engine blew because there was no oil in it. His brother bought it off of him and took it to his place of work that works on off road vehicles and rebuilt it and put new plastics and tires on it. It also has a big gun meant for a 2003 400ex. Do you think it is worth buying for around $3,500? Will the engine be just as good and reliable if it was new since it was blown then rebuilt? Should I even consider buying this? Also, it was flipped a couple of times and if it is worth buying what should I look for to make sure everything is good?

Thanks

The motor should be just as reliable if it has been rebuilt, unless it wasn't done right. For $3500 though, you can find a MUCH better deal. If i was going to spend that much on a 400ex it would have to have full suspension and all the little here and there goodies.....and hopefully some dam good motor work. Heck, for not much more than that you can get a used stock 450r on ebay.

Yea but you can't tell the condition (motor) of a quad of ebay unless you go test ride it.

Ya, test drive it and see how it feels. If it was me I would buy it, its been rebuilt got a few aftermarket parts on it, its practically brand new, and its an 05'. Sounds like a real good deal to me, just look over it good.

Just make sure it has oil in it:D
Just ride it and look at the frame for any cracks and dents,
Just look over every thing

An big gun for a 2003 is exactly the same as one for a 2005. Theres no difference in the exhuast.
