I was wondering, what are the differences between the CRF motors as far as year goes? I've heard some where quite different from others, and some being much faster. I'm looking into some hybrids and some have 02's, some 03's, etc.

You dont want the 02, alot of valve and bottom end problems
03 is really good but look forward to valve adjustment a lot unless you wanna kick it 50 times
04 has water pump problem and extensive damage can be done
05 and 06 are near perfect if you ask me definetely more power over previous years very high gearing
i owned an 03 crf450r bike...my friend chris owns an 03 and 05. Im around these bikes alot. Just trying to help before some dusche bag on here comments. haha

Thanx dude, i was thinking the 03's where good motors, but was really unsure about the rest of them. So the 05's and 06's are defiantley faster than 03's? What's the big differences as far as internal parts?

I loved my 03 they incressed the compression to 12 to 1 in 04 that was the biggest change. I put 55 hours on that bike and never even had I little hicup with it. I hope my TRX is the same.:D

I have a Lonestar CRF hybrid with two engine's both being 03's and would have to say I love both of them if you any dirt bike engine in a four wheeler frame it's going to need the valves adjusted more because you're putin more stress on the engine which it was not quite designed for. Hybrids are bada** I love mine know that I've gottin use to it, there nasty with the bike engine's in them, my one engine has an Athena 490 kit which just makes the engine's totally nasty around 55 to 60 horsepower. :D

The CRFs have titanium valves and they wear out faster and require more adjustments. The TRX motors use steel valves which are more durable. The TRX motors also have different internal gearing to handle the stress of two wide tires instead of one skinny tire. The CRF also has a different carb and electronics setup.

Yea if you get a CRF motor you'll want to invest in some Kible White valves there the best valves for that bike.
