Can u replace the master cylinder in the 400ex with a 450r the parts look interchangable with part numbers from bike bandit. I was thinking with higher line pressure maybe from the 450r and new CM44 pads and stainless steel lines will dramatically improve the front feel of my 400ex. The part numbers (135281-001)450r and (135280-001)400ex, everything else is pretty much the same. The swap would cost $40.00, I'm just not sure the 450r has higher line pressure but I would think so.

i dont think it will do anything. if you care that much about your brakes get some good pads, braided lines, and good brake fluid

the brakes on the 450's feel better because they have more expensive brake lines. They are kevlar lines and steel lines. so the lines expand less that the 400ex brakes lines.

Get some braided lines and you will see a big difrence.

as far as I know the master cylinders are the same.
