The dealer where I got warranty work done gave me a printout of a bullitin that said: to insure easy starts, set idle to 1700rpms. That is for the ER.

How are you guys gauging ur exact idle speeds like this? Does everyone and their mother have a dyno in their shed now? :P

No I have a hour meter and tackometer on my bike for just that reason. my er starts better with it at around 2000 than it does lower.I put in a 45 pilot also so maybe thats why,Anyway thats my 2 cents:D

Which hourmeter and tach do you use? I was looking to get one just for this reason, and also maybe to ease in pilot screw adjustment. How often do the RPM's update? I know some of them update only like once every second or two...

I don't have a tach so I really don't know what mine is, but I did turn it up about 3/8 of a turn from stock. My ER starts much better now.

The TRX should idle at 1700 rpm.

Vapor is shipping now:

Mine is a honda hour meter its right out of the honda generator book. any honda gerator dealer can get you one ,there only about 50 bucks canadan so less I am sure down south.:D The idle reads real time. I love mine. :) I like the trail teck but I needed one know.

I had the honda meter but the RPM's weren't exactly real time. There seemed to be some delay between hitting the throttle and the display. Nice unit, but for a few $ more the trailtech has many more features, a better display, etc., etc.

I would have to agree I gess there is a little delay. But for idle and hours run I have no complaints,I do like the trailtech better you are right about that one for sure. Maybe someday soon.:D
