View Full Version : Tapered Lugs with HiPers?

The stock LT-R lug nuts are tapered to fit the design of the stock wheels... the way they are made, they only thread on the studs with the taper on the inside.

When using HiPer wheels, the HiPer mounting surface is aluminum and flat. The tapered lug looks like it will dig into the face of the Hiper and possibly mess up the wheel?

Are you supposed to buy different lugs, ones that aren't tapered?
Or is it ok to use the tapered ones?

No you can't flip them around.
The hex head for the socket to fit on is only on one side.

i flipped my lugs around when ever i got my itp rims. fits into a socket fine, but you might need a deepwell. i use the flat side of all the lugs on all 4 wheels and they fit/work fine.

the ltr lugs have a ring around the taper so you can't get a wrench on the lug

Those nuts are M10-1.25 use a 14mm wrench/socket.

This information, of course, is assuming the LT-R and Z400 have the same thread pitch and diameter (since I haven't checked that myself).

most stock will fit but like lonstar hubs are smaller lugs etc. the autozone part would be cheaper, hey kwad make sure to bring your stock wheels to pa.

you can also use stock blaster lugs, they are the same as the pic posted from auto zone. 17mm at the base, but the head is only a 14 so you can fit a socket on it

I got some regular Yami lugs. They are flat on the inside.
Should work fine... I hope the threads are the same. I'm pretty sure they are.
