For the lazy ones:

Former Marine fends off four robbers, kills one
Threatened with guns, soldier defends himself with pocketknife

ATLANTA - A group of robbers in Atlanta picked the wrong victim.

Police say former Marine Thomas Autry fought off four attackers on Monday night with a pocket knife. They say he killed one and seriously wounded another.

Detective Danny Stephens said Autry was walking home from his waiter job when attackers armed with a shotgun and a pistol chased him. The detective said Autry pulled the knife out of his backpack when the group caught him.

Stephens said the 36-year-old’s “training kicked in and he knew what to do.” He kicked the shotgun out of one attacker’s hands and stabbed a 17-year-old girl who jumped on him, as well as a man who also attacked.

The suspects fled, but police said they found them at a hospital, where the girl was pronounced dead.

Stephens said they face robbery and aggravated assault charges and are suspected in other robberies over the past week. Autry will not be charged. :macho:

They are also lucky he wasnt fresh out of the corps or a few more of them would have been on a slab. We do need to chat with him about running...oh I forgot, that was an advance in the opposite direction:cool:

I think Gunny explained it one time on mail call, something like "I got your back", "I'll be there for ya" I think, i could be very wrong though. The real word is Semper Fidelis, I think it means "always faithful" in latin. So I think it's like "i'll be there for you"

You are correct! It means Always Faithful but "I got your back" and "I'll be there for ya" can be derived from the literal meaning. We are always faithful to our God, our country and our Marine Corps. Faithfulness to our families is obviously implied because once you become a Marine so does your family.

Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Once you earn the title of US Marine it will stick with you forever. After leaving active duty as a US Marine if you do something positive the Corps will receive accolades but if you do something negative your actions will be a blight on the Corps beautiful history because of the training you received.

To be honest this happens with all of the military services but the Corps, the Army and the Navy SEALS, and Air Force ParaRescue get more coverage because of our combat training.
