stupid problem need a lil help

Ok im no dummy when it comes to workin on my quad i ahve takin my whole rear end apart ront ends etc. But it seems the stupides thing has got me frustrated. I took my kick start off to lube the pinion bearing so i did i put the kickstart back on and i cant get the screw to go through and thread in it pushes thru with the kick start off but woint push throught with it on. I understand thats how it keeps the kickstart on but i cant push it through i lubed it tryed to tap it through etc like i said it goes through with it off and reaches the threads but not with it on.

If there is an undercut or thru hole on the shaft you might not be lining things up correctly, make sure things (hole and undercut/thru hole on shaft) and wiggle the kicker as you apply pressure on the screw. Once you get to the undercut/hole the srcew should snap down and you can tighten her up.
