Ive been reading up on sprockets on here but im still not sure. Stock is 13/38?

Everyone seems to go 14/36?

Is this type of setup good for low end or top end? If its top end how bad will it kill my low end grunt?

I have right now
Razors 20"
Full FMF Mega Exhaust
Jet Kit
K&N Air Filter

Im just looking for a bit more power without dumping a crapload into it. Im mostly a trail rider but I like to blast full throttle too and hit some jumps.

I like low end torque but im looking for some top end too?

Will this setup do it for me?

stock 400ex is 15:38

i run a 416 with a fcr and an x-6 pipe. I'm currently running a 16:39. Just as a comment if you run a rear sprocket that is an odd number the chain won't track on it the same way everytime it turns around. This will prolong the life of the chain and sprocket.

I've also ran a 14:35 and it had just a bit more low end but I didn't care for how fast it reved out. I occasionally go back to it when I run 22" tires.

I've never seen a 13 sprocket for the 400ex.

I have a 13 on the front of mine. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet though because the !@#$!@# carrier broke when I was adjusting it.

I had a 14 on it, but since I'm a big guy and have 22's on the rear, I need some more low end.

JT Racing makes the 13 I have. You can get them from a Parts Unlimited dealer.

If you're on a 300ex/250x the stock gearing is 13/38 w/ 22" tires.

If you drop to a 20" tire 14/36 is going to put you at a bit higher gearing than stock. I'd reccomend 14/38 on 20" tires wich would put you a hair lower geared than stock wich IMHO is better in the woods/tight trails.

Sorry I forgot to mention I have a 300ex. So how will a 14/38 feel? is it top end or low end? sorry but im new to this.. I did notice with my 20" razors i hit the rev limiter in like every gear much easier than before if im blasting in an open area.

Huge noticeable difference when you drop a front tooth.

I have a 300ex with a 14/38 and it beats my brothers 300ex easily. Plus i go up hills a lot better than he does.
