Maybe a little weak?

This topic is mostly out to the Raptor 700 guys. Have any of you had or heard of problems with the durability of these things? I have heard some serious horror stories, and I have witnessed a few wrecks that were surprisingly not too pretty. For example, a guy down at a local place that I ride at flipped his bike... he was in good shape, but his bike was a mess. At that time another guy told me that his buddy who has one flipped in about second gear on his and ended up ripping damn near the whole front end off. My buddy with one is a little worried about the decision that he has made.... hell I sent my 450r flipping on the throttle in 4th and it barely left a scratch on my plastic. Anyone here to comment? Not here to dis anything, just want info. :scary:

Heard of some weak subframes, but overall not bad. The front bumper looks like it's designed to have a crumple zone.

No 2 crashs are the same some times you get lucky.I have had yamaha wheelers for the past 20 years tri-moto 175,200e,225dx,225dr,big wheel 200,350 woverine,700 se raptor.Had i few crashs along the way bent bars,brokin brake levers thats it.Thats not to say i did not break the 200e in half but it was not meant to be jumped 8-10 feet in the air a few 1000 times,got it welded rode a few more years and sold it.I have 80 hour on the raptor no probs so far"no crashs"1 oh **** but i landed it,durability just like all i have owned A+++++.

Yamaha's steering stems are notorious for bending like butter, and there are common frame problems with other bikes like the 04 yfz. Believe it or not every problem is not by chance, some parts on some bikes are just weaker than others and therefore will have a greater tendency to fail.

Well, with big horsepower comes big crashes........ The faster you go the more damage, right?

I was refering to crashes in like first or second gear, where not much speed can be attained. I know the Rappy is a large bike.... all of that heft is a reason to break. :confused:

heft 422 full of fuel really not that much weight-dry weight like 397 not much more than your 400ex or 450r

Why 450 weighs around 350 dry. You would be surprised how much more 50 pounds is on something like that. Not saying that it is necessarily something bad, just commenting that speed is not really the factor of the question. Hell, if it were all about speed my 450r would be destroyed by now. :eek2:
