well....i had to jet up 1 size when i got my 14 tooth. not because the gear made me....but when running that set up ...i run the quad at higher rpm's so i needed a little bit more fuel. the plug dont lie!!!

i wud just call up dennis kirk and ask if they have them, if not, u can order one from rocky mountain. i would get a dif brand other than renthal for sprockets, my friends cracked in half after a few weeks of riding (but this was the rear)

It has been awhile since I looked at my Rocky Mountain catalog... But I thought they had the 14 tooth front sprocket listed. Anyway, I am sure they carry a 14 tooth front sprocket for the 400 ex.

Note: You need to make sure you get a 14 tooth for the 400ex.... The 14 tooth from a 300ex will not work.

BTW... I highly recommend the Renthal front sprockets. I am trying the Renthal rear sprocket now... No problems after one ride. But thanks Honda400exrider for the information.

As for needing to change your jets or carburetor settings after going from a 15 tooth to a 14 tooth... I did not have a need to. Almost a year ago though, I added the K&N jet kit and noticed an improvement.:)

Rocky Mountain has them listed in their catalog and website. I'm thinking of changing to a 14, but i'm still waiting on someone to convince me. I have no problem with the 15, but you can never have enough bottom end. I just do not want to lose my top end. How much did you guys lose?

i put my 14 tooth on for about 2 days then took it off and went back to 15.i felt a noticable loss in top end it did wheelie out of corners more often but i can do that fine with a 15tooth.if it aint broke dont fix it.i would only use a 14t on a motoX track

hey, I ordered a moose 14 tooth from dennis kirk, it's cnc machined not stamped like some manufacurers, I have done a couple of free mods and the 14 tooth is well worth the 15$, I can pull stock 400's by a bike length or 2 and I actually have a little more top end,(I think, 'cause the stock motors don't have enough power to pull the 15/38 gearing anyways.) plus this thing wheelie's like crazy and it doesn't bogg down in the tight trails like a stocker sometimes does. Go for it man you'll be happy with it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

renthal is probly the best....but they are around 25$ u should just get a cheap one....(7$) and just see if you like it....if you like it then u can get the 25$ one....that would be my suggestion....

I had a 14t and hated it. It felt like i was going like 10 mph slower in 5th gear even though i probably didnt lose that much speed. The only time I plan on putting that thing back on is when I ride in somewhat deep snow and around here we are lucky to have snow stay on the ground for more than 2 weeks.

a 14t works great in the sand and on tight trails. If you are worried about top end get a new cdi. Personaly I don't care if I go 60 or 65 because 90% of riding is below that, I want more power down low. Try it you will like it!!

Go with the 14' it improves bottom end and i had no problems with top end. It seems like I am going slower because you are turning more RPMs but my friend has all same modes as I do except for the sprocket and i can beat him in top speed. you will like it for your money. I got mine off moto-man.com for $12 and have had no problems. :blah

i don't know what it is....but i know if you go down a tooth it gives you more acceleration.....

300ex stock front sprocket is 13 tooth

If anyone has a 14 tooth that will fit a 300ex and want to get rid of it for cheap, lemme know!!

I have a 14T on me 330ex and I love it in the dirt but i am thinking of going back down to the stock 13T for the dunes. the 13T really restricts the speed, but I get bogged down with the 14T in the sand. Do you guys think I will lose too much tire spin going down to the stock 13T
