a lot of people are going to tell you HMF... and the other favorite among the 300's seems to be the curtis sparks x-6.. hope sound isnt an issue in your area:devil:

I have the Curtis Sparks X-4 exhaust. If your going with the Sparks exhaust make sure you get the X-4. Anything higher then the X-4 is for a bigger CC engine.

Go for the HMF or the sparks.

I'd assume that is for the spark arested version. Their site lists the 300ex X-4 Race as $349. But, it has been a LONG time since they've updated their site.

I would agree that the Sparks X-4 is the best deal for a full system pipe on the 300ex. I run an X-4 race on my 330ex.

If you want slip-on only, go with HMF.

But on the 300ex, I'll always highly reccomend a full system exhaust. The stock header is very very restrictive.

I'm just wondering, what is the difference between an X-4 and X-5 if its for the same machine. I know that its for a bigger engine, but what makes the exhaust different? a larger header and silencer?

its for the bigger CC 300ex's. Like if you have a 350 stroker kit or something.

I know that, but why are there different versions, wht makes them different. Is the X-5 flow more freely? allowing more exhaust to flow through it?

Yes, the x-5 and x-6 versions have larger diameter headers. Too much flow for 330cc and under. You loose a lot of bottom end torque due to the reduced exhaust velocity.

There are several choices to choose from for under $500, I have a Supertrapp 4" Racing Series on my 300EX paid $280 for it, there is also the IDS2 quiet and racing core pipes by Supertrapp for around $370 and TC Racing quoted me for their full race system $439. FMF has a full system, big gun has a full system, I think and I think you can put together a full White Brother system for around $500. There is also DG, and Cobra that have full systems. It is all up to you on what you want, do you need a quiet system or is there a brand that you prefer, or you planing on racing. Everyone will have a option on which system they like based on their own needs. I would get a full system because the head pipe is the biggest restriction on the factory system.
