cut the ends off of the bolts that have extra threads, drill some holes in ur pegs to shed some weight, and i heard that rath is developing a graphite axle which is some 10 lbs lighter then what u tt guys run now.

You can cut or take off your front fenders and also cut your rear fenders. Shave seat foam down a little to cut some weight. Buy a titanium bolt kit.

Just take the pipe part off only 2 bolts. For the whitebrothers above we just put tape on the logo and took a razor blade and traced around it if you get what im saying. then just scufff it up so the paint can bite and go buy some flat black engine enamel take your time doing coats and itll look good.

I'd like to see some real custom ideas so I think this thread is needed.

Here's a small one. I liked the protection (where I ride is real rocky) but not removing 2 extra bolts at every oil change so I chopped it down.

I did header wrap with a heat sheild on my rossier. Its the regular tan wrap. Im ganna get a black roll soon.

How does that header wrap hold up in the mud. I have it on my racing kart, but I would have thot it would get all crapy the first time you go to wash the dirt off.

compedge

It holds up great. Ive washed the bike at least 10 times with it. The end is starting to fray , but Im ganna use a stainless steal clamp to solve that problem.

I cover the pipe wth mud every ride. To the point where you cant even see the header wrap. When I wash it I dont spray the header direct. I spray it lightly. When I spray wd40 on the atv It gets on the wrap and just bakes off when I start it.

I recomend that you wrap it very, VERY tight.

Ive never burnt my riding pants and it looks tough.

I think Im going to put some on my quad at some point.

But I bet the head pipe can rust prety bad under the heat wrap.

How about some real custom parts? We made our own bearing carriers. I've posted pics before but they were immediately deleted by a mod, even though I wasn't trying to sell any:confused: Also we made our own billet intake pieces. They slide inside the stock intake in the air box, then a UNI filter clamps onto this intake piece without the use of the screen. They're pretty trick looking. Ill post some pics in a little while.

why would the mod delete it even if you were trying to sell them?!?!

because Im not a paying sponsor of this site, and he thought I was trying to market the product for like a mass sale, but I was just saying it was a possibility in the future and every little kid with a 300ex was like ooooh I want one right now to try for free and yada yada, and it just got out of hand and the whole thread got deleted and it was a huge misunderstanding. Ill go grab pics of it right now.

Might be stupid, but I made these little stainless brackets to re-locate my tailight farther underneath to protect it. Plus, my new grab bar didn't have mounts for it. I also cut off the part of the rear plastic that holds the manual and tool kit. This way my buddies have a good veiw of the airbox when I fly by them.:D

From the rear, not a good pic though.

I made this airbox out of 1/8" aluminum. as well as did all the welding, fabrication, sandblasting, and powdercoating on the frame myself.

Finally got some pics of that bearing carrier. It is a copy of a big name, but it was a one time deal, and its not an exact copy. This was just a trial piece we made, and if I was to make another one at any point in my life, the middle piece would have a fillet or chamfer to prevent the 90 degree contact point which is a singularity or a stress riser.

THESE ARE NOT FOR SALE THEY ARE FOR AMUSEMENT AND MY OWN PERSONAL PLEASURE!!! Also has the grease fitting on the outside so you dont have to take your whole rear-end apart. I would like to make one with the countersunk grease fitting like a few companies are doing now.

Almost forgot about my custom durablue x-33 hubs that I made....they were the result of my first bad buying experience on this website...bought the axle and the dude never sent me the right hubs for the axle.

hey 400exrider707, i like all your custom parts. i wish i could do that. but i was wondering how those bolts in your x-33 axle r holding up. i had a bad expierence and mine sheered off.

400exrider707
06-05-2006, 09:26 PM
Sadly I never got a chance to use the axle cause I sold my 400ex and I couldn't make it work in my 450R I sold it to a fellow member on here, Ill have to ask him how they are holding up. They should be fine. They are larger in diameter than the durablue bolts and they seem to work fine. What usually wears out on those axles is the cast hubs, which is why durablue sells billet hubs but they're almost $200, and mine were free.

Hey 450 Racer R are those IMS heel gaurds mounted to those AC nerfs. I have those same nerfs in black and was wondering if a set of ims heel gaurds woul fit them. Did you have to so any work to make them fit?

400exMO
06-06-2006, 11:05 PM
They'll fit if you have IMS Pegs. I believe you can get the heel gaurds and shim it if you still have stock pegs.

I bought the IMS pegs, IMS heel gaurds, and AC nerfs as a package. They fit like a glove. :macho

I guess I dont have the same nerfs as you. I thought those were the AC "Race" nerfs without the heelguards that have the replaceable footpegs. But you said you went with the IMS footpegs which isn't what I went with. Does anyone know if they would work with the AC nerfs I have?

BTW the bike looks sick
