I am going to check and hopefully not adjust my valves.

does the 450r loose clearance like most valves or dose it gain clearance, so i know witch end of the tolerance to set them at?

I have the manual but is there any other tricks or info I need to know!

and to you need the cam chain tensioner tool or can i find something in the garage that will work?

thanks

no need for a cam chain tensioner tool. just use a very small/thin flat blade screwdriver and turn the tensioner with that. you can actualy just unbolt the whole cam tensioner and that will give you all the slack you need in the cam chain. you will need new shims to adjust the valves. read the manual and make sure you have all the tools necessary and make sure you understand everything first. over time the valves will probably get a little tighter.

OK i tore in to her and the intake valves are right on at 0.006in and the left side Exhaust is at 0.011in but the right side is 0.009!!!!!
the manual states it should be (0.011 +- 0.001) so i am out 0.001.

should I fix it or should I just let it go!!!!

I'd say fix it myself but I have no experience here. You're going to have to do it sooner or later, might just as well figure it out now. I just checked mine recently and found the left side to be right on too but the right exhaust valve was a bit tighter at 0.010". Can anybody tell me why the right tightens up quicker? Or does it?

fix it and heres how. if it is just exhaust find a way to compress the valve spring, i press on the retainer and suck out the shim with a magnet, measure the shim and install the correct one and remeasure, then adjust your decompressor clearance.

i would get a new shim and get the valves right if it was me. don't forget to adjust the decompressor as well.

If I were to completely guess at it, maybe it has something to do with the decompressor?
