Im trying to avoid playing middle man with regards to getting stuff chromed. I dont do it, it takes forever and then people get mad at me when I forewarn them it will be a long wait.

pricing is located in the first or second thread in this section

I cant predict how long a coating will last. There are way too many variable not to mention your deffinition of "last"

The previous powdercoat I had on my frame lasted about a year in the "high wear" areas (around the boot area, etc). The areas that are not prone to being rubbed still looked new after a year or so.

That was on the frame.

A-arms are more likely to chip, just for the simple fact that rocks and such will hit them.

Dustin is pretty much correct.

It is hard to tell someone how long something will last when you do not know the condition a part will be put through. Ive done frames that are still looking good after 3 years, while others look hashed after a year. While thats a difference, both scenarios did not "fail", as in peeling, cracking or chipping, it was merely the wear areas that showed signifigant wear.

Arms are particulairly tuff to determine a life span on. If you ride deeply rutted trails, or tons of larger rocky areas, you can bet you will see some wear. if you race...and tend to stay on the grab bar of a faster rider, roost will eventually eat a coating. if roost can ding chromoly one can not expect a coating to last forever etc.

Mud will also take away from a coating, whether it be powdercoat or chrome/nickle. Mud is an abrasive pure and simple.
