I was racing this weekend and tipped my wheeler up on its side in a corner. I can't remember if I pulled the tether cord or if it died any way I put back on all four and now it has a weird crackling noise when its under a load at mid-high rpms. Any ideas on what it could be THANKS!

it doesn't seem to lose power just making a sound that i don't like. THe best i really can describe the sound is a crackle it doesn't backfire and it idles pretty nice. I'll pull the plug again I know i'm runnen rich though any one have ANY THOUGHT thanks for info

Maybe you got oil up in the airbox from the crank case breather

what do you have for engine mods? sounds like spark knock.

I just rebuilt to 426 with White Bros r4
pipe K&N filter wisco piston thats about it major wise. Its just concerning cause i have another race this weekend.

I have just a 10:1 piston in there now. As for where I race so far I haven't gone any more than my two local tracks which are Skowhegans Sportsmans club and the Eaton MT. track. When I turn 16 this winter I want to join NE-ATV and start to ride more of the Newengland area tracks. I want to go to Jolly Rogers BAD THOUGH:devil:

what gaskts are you useing? do you have a timing advance key?


If you have acces to a little race gas dump some in your tank with the regular gas. Like a gaterade botle full. If it goes away, chances are it could be that your runing lean.


If it doesent go away it could be just the motor skipping and that you are rich.

I'm almost sure its a header leak maybe i tightened them too gradualy and one of the copper gaskets blew:confused: get some new gaskets. how could i get new clamps that are on the header?
