f-150 question

I blew my transmission and im trying to find out what other year transmissions will fit my 1988 f150, if anyone knows what other years fit then i would really appreciate it. BTW it is a 351 5.8 Liter engine. ANY info about getting this tranny would help, im planning on going to the junkyard friday.

Comon guys i know someone can help me out, i looked on the net and havent found anything besides the fact that its a windsor engine, i need to know what other trucks i can yank a tranny out of

First you need to know what trans you have. If it auto it could be a c6 or AOD!

Unfortunately that is true, things have slowed down over there big time. It may take a while, but some replies are better than none and certainly better than asking here in the open forum :ermm:

An older C6 or AOD(auto over drive), is it an automatic or 4 or 5 speed in it right now?

The Ford FMX transmission is the toughest tranny on earth. I took an FMX out of a car that had over 100,000 miles on it and mated it with a built 351W with over 400 HP and raced it for several years.

I did break a few flex plates and I cracked one bell housing but the transmission was bullet proof.

If you are not too picky, just get the transmission, trans cross member, and drive shaft from the Junkyard F-150 and it should all bolt up nicely.

See if you can get a tag off of the trans and then I can find out what you have and what years it will fit.

If your truck is between the ages of 1987-1992 you should get it re-built. Take it to a trans shop, get it rebuilt than it will have a warranty or bring it to a dealer!

Check out www.fullsizedbronco.com Even though it's a bronco web site, the same motors and transmissions went into the broncos as the f-150's. And it won't take 3 days to get a response there.
