Is there markings on the outside of the clutch basket if it is a Hinson basket? Any other way to tell without taking the clutch plates out? I was told mine has a Hinson basket but from the looks of it I cannot tell!

it is definetly not stock, the stock ones dont have the hole in the middle of the rib or whatever you what to call it. And my HInson basket is black also, so I would say that is a Hinson basket

I had a Precsion Engineering in one of my R's at one time and it looked the same as the Hinson I had in my last R......so it is aftermarket.....but you will have to pull out the plates to find out for sure

you can have plates out and back in in 5 minutes- why dont you just pop them out and look?

If it's terribly important, then pull the plates out. Otherwise, take Blacker's point of view. It's definitely aftermarket. Even if it's a Moose or Wiseco, it will be hard anodized and much better than stock. I can't imagine the quality would be that far off from a Hinson.
